Non Lucrative Lobbying; Aged Care Queensland

Aged care Queensland boasts a membership of nearly half a thousand, most of whom provide some form of care for people of an advanced age or who suffer from chronic disability. The association abides by a strict rule of non profit, forgoing any lucrative projects or services and as such serves as a kind of central body for the care industry in Queensland. Affiliates to the organisation run all manner of services for the disabled and elderly, but mainly concentrate on housing facilities such as homes, assisted living hostels and low rent apartments for both types of tenants.

Aged care Queensland takes action in the name of its members to ensure that community, state and national bodies are receptive to the needs of the industry. This is usually achieved through a process of lobbying government for specific policies that are beneficial to the sector, running workshops that specialise in developing skills related to caring, and offering educational facilities for carers.
